2008 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Children's Programs
The Friends Group sponsors at least one children's program
each year. The group used proceeds from their successful
spring book sale to purchase four tickets to the Laurie
Berkner concert at the Constellation Brands Performing
Arts Center In June. Lucky patrons and their children enjoyed
this award-winning children's musical artist.

Annual Safe Halloween Event
The Friends group sponsored its annual, very successful
Safe Halloween Event in October. Children sign up at the
library and if they are home safely by 8:00 p.m. when the
Friends call, they win a monetary prize. {over 70 children
participated this year} and we've had requests to "please
continue this fun event every year!"
Seniors Luncheon Program
In September, the Friends hosted a seniors luncheon
training on finding reliable health information on the web.
Barbara Ciambor, Outreach Librarian for the Rochester Regional
Library Council gave a demonstration of the CLIC-on-Health
website and answered questions from the seniors. Topics
included medications, local health services available and
disease & wellness.

A Message From the Chairpersons
Since the Friends group was reorganized, we have been able to help
the library in a variety of ways. We have purchased equipment and
materials for the library including a light for the handicap
entrance, new signs for the library, an oak magazine display case
(beautifully handmade by Lynn Kendrick), tables, books and modernization of the library kitchen.
The Friends have not only been able to provide these tangible
items for the library, but also provide activities for all ages
that include reading programs, storytelling and used book sales.
Interested in joining the Friends Group? Please call Mae Sharman at 346-2511. We look forward to
hearing from you!
